Fifa08

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – November 8, 2007 – Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) threw the switch today on a free downloaded feature called Online Team Play that will enable 10 people on 10 different consoles anywhere in the world to connect online to play a single match of FIFA Soccer 08 or NBA LIVE 08. The new feature is automatically available for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system and the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system* when connected online.

Be A Pro: Online Team Play in FIFA Soccer 08 enables up to five friends on five different consoles to select and take control of their own individual players on the same team, supported by AI teammates, to play against up to five rivals playing on five different consoles of another team. You can choose to play as a single, fixed player the entire game, with free roaming players, or teams can have a combination of both. Anyway you choose to play, Be A Pro: Online Team Play challenges you to master the same disciplines as a real soccer player—from positioning and tackling to reading the field and passing.

In NBA LIVE 08, all 10 players on the floor can now be controlled by individual users on 10 different consoles, removing the use of artificial intelligence altogether. Player movement, decision making and game outcome can now be completely dependant on how you play as an online team, bringing you closer to a real life game of basketball than ever before. This new game mode enables any number of players from one to five on different consoles to connect and play online against another team of up to five players on five different consoles. The CPU will take control of any players not controlled by users.

Peekay

Today one of America’s FIFA CGS World Finalists is featured in the State of Maine’s largestnewspaper: The Portland Press Herald. In the article Nicholas “Peekay” DePalmer describes his gaming journey and his experiences this summer in Los Angeles, California.

DePalmer, 23, is a professional gamer, or as some might say a cyber athlete. He`s a member of the Carolina Core, one of six 10-man teams in the Championship Gaming Series, one of a growing number of professional gaming leagues in the U.S. and around the world.

DePalmer is part of a generation raised in a world where video games have moved from the fringe to the mainstream, and in the process made the idea of getting paid to play games you enjoy a reality.

But as the world of eSports and competitive gaming expands, it`s experiencing pains similar to that of other professional sports in their early days, leaving gamers with a mix of excitement and uncertainty.

“Gaming is huge, I always knew it was,“ he said. “I`m excited to be doing this as a job, being marketed as a pro gamer.“

So if DePalmer`s a bit cocky at times, it`s like Muhammad Ali once said, “It`s not bragging if you can back it up.“

DePalmer, who goes by the gamer alias “Peekay,“ is currently living in Portland, recently back from Orlando, where he took part in the World Championship Gaming United States Finals.

The intro video for the new Fifa08 PC. Enjoy it!

I just played 2 games using direct ip and I got some stuff to say about the game.

First of all I found it to be quite smoother than the previous versions. I am in Colombia, and I played a player from Sweden, and it was not bad at all, a bit heavy, but very playable; he hosted.

The first game was Spain vs. Sweden (I was Spain using 343) I won 3-2. I have to say I like the Spaniard team, its very offensive although with that formation, at the back I felt kinda  empty. The gameplay is quite improved. Those analog passes really help out everywhere on the pitch. Its amazing really how the analog presence really helps the game. The shooting is more responsive in the sense that if a player does not have the angle or shoots without ball possession then the AI makes sure the shot does not travel close to the goal box. I like the ball movement and the player movement as well. I found it hard to control the goalie in tough situations, I guess I have to go back to the training manual. It is much more realistic than before, I have to say that, and I was impressed by how the IP mode is quite playable as I only have half a meg. There are many new features that let you put spin on the ball and do many tricks with the right analog. When you run, you really have to look out for defenders as the ball goes wayyyyy forward here and you can easily loose possession.

That’s all for now, if you guys want a match, leave a comment with your MSN Messenger ID. ;)
